On this date in 1922, Charles M. Schultz is born in Minneapolis. Raised in St. Paul, Schultz was the creator of the comic srtip Peanuts which included characters such as Charlie Brown and Snoopy. The comic strip was published for almost 50 years and at the height of its popularity, Peanuts was printed in 2,600 papers in 75 countries and in 21 different languages. Schultz passed away in Santa Rosa, California on February 12, 2000. On May 27th of that year, Schultz was honored by cartoonists of more than 100 comic strips, who paid homage to him and Peanuts by incorporating his characters into their strips that day.
