On This Date In Twin Cities History - June 2, 1907

On this date in 1907, the cornerstone was laid for the current Cathedral of St. Paul, designed by Emmanuel Louis Masquery.  The grand celebration was attended by more than 60,000 people from across the state on a sunny summer afternoon.  The site, situated on Summit Avenue between Selby and Dayton Avenues was the former home of the Kittson mansion which stood there from 1884 to 1906.
