On This Date In Twin Cities History - May 17, 1837

On this date in 1837, the Reverend Alfred Brunson, a Methodist missionary, arrives at Fort Snelling aboard the Ariel.  Brunson travelled to Minnesota to establish a mission among the Native Americans at the Kaposia settlement, also known as “Little Crow’s Villiage”, located in the the modern day city of South St. Paul.  This was the first Methodist mission in Minnesota.
